Introduction
Citytouch is an award winning digital banking solution by City Bank PLC. It is the first digital banking solution launched in Bangladesh, with over 500,000 customers now using the service for their day to day financial needs.
My first project as a Service Designer at City Bank was to design the user experience for the launch of its flagship Virtual Card services.
Challenges 🔍
➡️ The old Homepage and Card Details page was completely text based
➡️ Showing a visual depiction of the Virtual Cards on either of these pages would not be possible in these textual layouts
➡️ Since these cards do not exist in plastic physical format, users will have no chance to view the cards in the old layout
➡️ No quick action buttons in existing layout to create a new account/card

Design Goals 🎯
➡️ A user should be able to visually see the Virtual Card they have created
➡️ A user should be able to create a new Virtual Card within a few clicks
➡️ The Homepage and Card Details page should be redesigned
➡️ No old functionalities of the previous versions of the designs should be lost in the redesign
➡️ The user interface should be updated to a more modern look and feel
Goal 1: Update the Homepage and Card Details page
Based on the constraints and business needs discussed above a new design of the homepage
➡️ User will be able to scroll through his different cards and accounts in the homepage
➡️ User will be able to create a new virtual card from the homepage
➡️ User will be able to see an image and all relevant details of his virtual card
➡️ Interface design will be updated to look more modern and visually appealing
Goal 2: Create a Seamless Virtual Card Creation Experience
➡️ User will be able to create a virtual card through a quick action button in the homepage
➡️ User will also be able to create a virtual card through the Card Services section from Menu
➡️ A user will be able to create a new card by navigating through three screens and making less than ten small actions
➡️ In comparison, applying for a plastic physical card takes a lot of paperwork, communications and logistics
Conclusion
The virtual card services has been proven popular with users, especially those who have not yet availed a card from the bank to avoid paperwork.
During user testing post launch, all users were easily able to create and use their cards, without any steps causing confusion or problems.
