Cricwhiz App Design
Timeline: April to May 2021
Project Overview
CricWhiz is the most popular fantasy cricket platform in Bangladesh. Before the redesign the app was launched as an MVP with a rudimentary design. After the initial proof of concept, the team was looking for an updated design that would create a better overall user experience, as well as creating a more vibrant and exciting image for the app.
I was hired as a freelance designer to make improvements to some key areas of the app.

Goal 1: Introduce a Homepage for the App
The homepage of the app was designed to give quick access to:
➡️ Fantasy
➡️ Predictions
➡️ Scorecard
➡️ Promotions from the app owners (banners)
Goal 2: Improvements to Fantasy section
➡️ An improved user flow was needed to ensure that users were not dropping off in the middle of team selection for the fantasy game.
➡️ The interface needed to be broken down into small steps to ensure clarity and progressive disclosure of information.
➡️ In addition two new features: "Head to Head" and "Private Contests" were to be added.
➡️ New features must not hinder the original fantasy game
Goal 3: Improvements to Prediction section
➡️ An improved user flow was needed to ensure that users understood all the steps of the game.
➡️ Tips and Rules were easily accessible at all times.
➡️ A slider for "Risk Factor" was added that showed the user a real time view of their choice
Goal 4: Introduction of Scorecard
➡️ Scorecard main page will be divided into separate sections
➡️ "Featured Matches" will be matches that were expected to garner the most interest
➡️ Other matches will be divided by tournaments as the user scrolls down
➡️ Design of the scorecard themselves were kept as it is being done in all other cricket portals, in the most easily digestible manner for users
Goal 5: Create a Bright Vibrant UI
➡️ Different gradient shades were assigned to different pages of the app
➡️ A "dark mode" feel was maintained while bringing in bright and playful colours
Conclusion
As per the client, there was a surge in the number of downloads post launched driven by the promotions focused on the updated user interface.
Cricwhiz still remains the most popular Bangladeshi based fantasy sports app and maintains the designs created during this project.
